It is quite curious how the subject of communication is usually approached in different ambits and perspectives, which makes us realize the extent of this word. It is common to hear that communication is the basis for a good relationship (not necessarily a loving one); but, are we really aware of it? Have we ever thought about how much we can learn by having a good communication with the people surrounding us? Have we ever dimensioned all we could avoid? Have we ever thought about how we could grow as a human being? I would say no.
As individuals, we have the ability to communicate in different ways, by signs, gestures, movements, writing, etc.; however, I would say that there is no better way to convey what you mean than through words. By talking you can let your partner know that you are not comfortable with any attitude he/she is having with you; by talking you can tell your boss that he/she is being a little rude to you while you are giving your best in the position you hold; by talking you can tell your family that you really appreciate their love and care for you, but that you still need a bit of freedom to make decisions and control your life. You see? by speaking up and making proper use of your words and voice it is possible to improve your environment, to change what makes you discomfort.
I know that for many, expressing themselves through words causes them a lot of fear or insecurity, but if we are conscious of how important and beneficial it is, why not give it a try? In the end, we also have the ability to learn and unlearn at any time we want, we all are capable of getting used to new things or people, of creating new habits.
I consider that communication and education are closely related, how a person expresses him/herself in situations of anger or disappointment, for example, lets us realize how educated that person is. Good communication can be a key for success.

woww, I totally agree with everything you have said, and it is absolutely true, sometimes we don't really say what we feel and that can lead to other problems, defenitely we can learn to speak up, so, no wonder we will see great results of all areas of our lives, thanks for reminding me how important is this!:)
